Blake C. is a frequent winner—$200 here, $2,000 there…“My favorite win has to be the $6,000 one.”
“I just happened to be in the grocery store with my mom when I found out. My mom was in town because we're having a big family event. She was going to make homemade ice cream cake so we were out getting supplies.”
“Mom’s what I like to call a ‘slow shopper.’ I thought, ‘Well, I’ve got nothing else to do. I’ll just order some lottery tickets.’
“I ordered a few and after I played, I looked at the clock and it’s 10:12 PM, which is when they do the Daily 4 Night drawing here in Texas. So I gave it a few minutes and then looked at the app and…ooh, my numbers matched!”
“I’m standing next to my mom at this point. And all I can hear myself saying is ‘Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.’ I’m a fooler and have sometimes told mom before “Oh my gosh, I won!” when it was actually just a dollar. So this time she’s like, “Yeah, right.”
Blake showed his mom his order in the app with the words “Big Winner.”
Her reaction: ‘Wow, oh WOW!’
Blake added that his mom actually inspired his lottery win in more ways than one.
“The winning numbers I played happened to be the last four digits of her phone number!”
