BIG winner alert! Two friends in Greenville, Texas won a $50,000 Powerball prize thanks to their private lottery pool on Jackpocket.
Meet Ronnie and Brandon, the duo that make up the Private Pool group “Brothers.” The aircraft mechanics have been friends for over ten years—keeping each other accountable at the gym and spending birthdays and holidays with each other’s families. They’re also big fans of pooling their lottery tickets for better odds.
“I can probably count on one hand how many times I have physically gone to buy a lotto ticket,” Ronnie says. “Usually Brandon will go and I can chip in. One day I was thinking there has to be a way I can do this without us depending on Brandon to go all the time for us. We already have busy daily lives.”
Enter Jackpocket. Ronnie and Brandon started placing ticket orders on the Jackpocket lottery app and were excited to see the new Private Pools feature that lets friends and family join forces in their own private lottery groups in supported states. The group “Brothers” was born.
We Have a Winner
Brandon was just getting back from vacation, when he found out the “Brothers” private pool group won a big Powerball prize. “I had just gotten back from a cruise, so I was still on the ship when Ronnie called me at like 7AM. We were both yelling with excitement. Even had someone bang on our cruise room door, but that didn’t stop me from yelling.”
The winning ticket for the May 15 drawing matched 4 numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000. And since Ronnie and Brandon contributed one ticket entry each to the Powerball drawing, they split the winnings 50/50.
Brandon plans to use his share for a down payment on his first house. “At least,” he jokes, “that’s what the wife is wanting to do.” And Ronnie is still waiting to surprise his family with the good news. (Surprise!) Now that Brandon’s back from vacation, they can properly celebrate with their families. “It really didn’t feel like a victory till I could celebrate with them.”
So, the members of “Brothers” aren’t actually brothers? Ronnie says, “We aren’t, but we might as well be. He’s my best friend.”
