4 Best Movies About Winning the Lottery

Would you play winning lottery numbers from a movie?

In a world where–

Wait just a sec while we put on our best Don LaFontaine voice.

In a world where it only takes a dollar and a dream, four movies showed us what happens when ordinary people hit it big.

(How’d we do?)

In honor of a very big lottery movie hitting the Tribeca film festival today, here are 4 of our favorite movies about winning the lottery.

Plus, check out each film’s winning numbers for some luck-spiration of your own.

1. In the Heights (2021)

5 7 16 26 33

When Usnavi’s bodega in Washington Heights sells a winning $96,000 New York lottery ticket, the whole neighborhood fantasizes about how they’d spend the money.

The play doesn’t call them out specifically, but in the movie version the winning lottery numbers are 5-7-16-26-33.

2. It Could Happen to You (1994)

6 12 16 27 48 64

When a New York City cop doesn’t have enough cash to tip his waitress at a diner, he half-jokingly promises to split the winnings of his lottery ticket with her if it hits. (Spoilers: it does. And he does. Much to his wife's irritation.) The lucky $4M winning numbers? 06, 12, 16, 27, 48, 64.

3. Lottery Ticket (2010)

4 32 33 42 45 21

Numbers from a fortune cookie end up matching 6 of 6 lottery numbers winning one Atlantan and his grandmother a $370 million jackpot. But will the winner be able to claim his prize before the neighborhood bullies find him? Be like Bow Wow and try the lucky numbers 04-32-33-42-45-21

4. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)

Not technically a lottery ticket, but Charlie's golden ticket does strike it rich. Milk chocolate kinda rich. He's lucky enough to find one of 1 of 5 golden tickets hidden in Wonka chocolate bars WORLDWIDE winning him a visit to the mysterious Wonka factory plus chocolate for life.

Golden Tickets don’t have numbers from what we can tell, but you always use Jackpocket’s Quick Pick feature to pay homage to this classic.
