This year we’re happy to team up with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and lotteries around the country to help spread this holiday lottery message: Please Gift Responsibly. 🎁 Because while lottery tickets make great gifts for adults, they’re not for kids or teens.
Here’s why: Research from the NCPG on youth gambling has shown that the younger a person is when they start gambling, the more likely they are to develop a gambling problem as an adult. While grown ups recognize that lotteries are games of chance, kids and teens may have more difficulty putting these games into perspective.
So, please think twice before slipping a scratch-off into a stocking or holiday card and make sure the recipient is legally old enough to play.
