20-Year-Old Jackpocket Player Wins a Cool Million Between Classes

Meet the college student who set a Jackpocket record

Meet Concordia University junior Brandon Stevenson. On July 11, 2018, Brandon won a whopping $1 million on his Powerball ticket, setting a shiny new Jackpocket prize record.

An occasional lottery player, Brandon decided “to give it a whirl” this July and played his Powerball numbers on the Jackpocket mobile lottery app. Jackpocket had launched in Minnesota only a few weeks earlier, just in time for this St. Paul student to make Jackpocket history.

According to Brandon, his family didn’t believe him at first when he told them the good news. Not until they saw the photo of Brandon holding his $1,000,000 check.

"My mom always told me that money doesn’t mean everything, but extra money does help. Especially as a college student." Brandon to NBC Kare11

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Thanks to credits he earned by referring a friend to play with us, Brandon played his $1 million jackpot for free! Little-known-fact, Brandon actually had ANOTHER win earlier in the evening — a $1 prize on a Gopher 5 play. Hey, every bit counts.

Show Me the Numbers

Brandon matched all five of his numbers, just missing the red Powerball. For all of you numerologists out there, Brandon’s lucky numbers were:

19 21 27 46 47 and Powerball 9

The winning numbers?

19 21 27 46 47 and Powerball 7

Is Brandon kicking himself over that (so close!) Powerball number? Nope, he’s coping fine. He says he plans to “just tuck all the cash away. I’m still living a normal life.” Brandon plays football for Concordia (Go Golden Bears!) and plans to major in Sports Management.

Welcome to the winner’s circle, Brandon! Every member of the Jackpocket Team is ecstatic for you. And, a huge thanks to all the folks who play the lottery with Jackpocket. We’re excited for more epic wins to roll in. Stay up-to-date on winner’s stories right here on the Jackpocket blog.
